![]() If Milwaukee can’t pull off a win in Game 6, this game will forever haunt Bucks fans as the one the Slim Reaper took away. Yeah this dude is damn near 7 feet tall doing this stuff. It may even be the greatest individual playoff performance of all time. The Slim Reaper has had 12 All-Star appearances, having participated in 14 seasons in the NBA. With the win, Game 5 became an instant classic for KD and the Nets. Kevin Durant has been one of the most unstoppable players in the game of basketball since he came in 2007 as the second overall pick for the then-Seattle Supersonics and present-day Oklahoma City Thunder. ![]() There was just a single lead change in the game, but it came when it mattered most. With Kyrie Irving out and James Harden returning from an injury, he scored 20 of Brooklyn’s 33 points in a tense fourth-quarter comeback. Having missed all of last year with an Achilles injury, Durant left everything on the court Tuesday night to seal a crucial win for Brooklyn. Here’s what NBA Twitter had to say about an epic night for the Slim Reaper. The two-time NBA Finals MVP finished with 49 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists as the Nets overcame a 17-point third-quarter deficit. The Milwaukee Bucks were well on their way to heading home with a 3-2 series lead until Kevin Durant completely took over Game 5 with a playoff masterpiece.ĭurant notched a triple-double while playing every minute for the Brooklyn Nets. Again, I think this matchup of the night deserves a close watch for the entire group of C’s forwards and centers.‘Slim Reaper’ was trending on Twitter as Kevin Durant’s legendary playoff performance delivered the Brooklyn Nets a victory in Game 5. Kris Humphries and Brandon Bass bring the athleticism while Sully and Olynyk bring positioning and intangibles. While the Thunder front-court is very athletic, the Celts have a balanced group. Kelly Olynyk will also be interesting to watch against the big men of the Thunder. It will be interesting to see how he handles Ibaka’s length and Perkins’ power. Those are two very different matchups for Sully. Jared Sullinger will be dealing with Ibaka and former Celts great Kendrick Perkins. Though most fans will be watching what Durant does tonight, I think this contest is a big game for the C’s young big men. Mandatory Credit: Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports ![]() I wouldn’t be surprised to see my favorite, Phil Pressey, get some minutes with the starters and try his best against Jackson. Rajon Rondo is expected to play tonight, and Jackson will be a good test for him. The Celts will also still be without Avery Bradley, who would have had the best chance at bothering Jackson in the back-court. Jeff Green is coming off his best game of the season and will share duties covering Durant, a task that I’d imagine will be dealt with by a combination of him and Gerald Wallace. Diving deeper into the Thunder rotation, you can see the recent contributions of Jeremy Lamb, Steven Adams, and old man Derek Fisher, allowing the Thunder to stay among the Western Conference elite until they are at full strength with Westbrook, who may return as soon as February 3rd.Īs you can tell from the previous paragraph, the C’s have a lot on their plate this evening. ![]() ![]() Serge Ibaka has been playing outstanding basketball over the last two weeks, blocking shots and hitting mid-range jumpers. Guard Reggie Jackson is doing a solid job of substituting for the injured Russell Westbrook, and is helping balance the offense when teams go to double Durant. But it would be unjust to only credit Durant with the recent success of the team. The Thunder have won five in a row and six of their last seven, in large part due to Durant’s performance. Here is just a sample of what Durant has been up to lately: Durant, who is not embracing his new “Slim Reaper” moniker, has been the biggest story in basketball over the last few weeks with his otherworldly play. Smith-USA TODAY Sportsįans at TD Garden are in for a show tonight as the Boston Celtics host Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder at 7:30 PM EST. ![]()
